Using a recruitment agency can often get you further through the door with an employer than a speculative CV would. And because some employers carry out their recruiting solely through agencies they can give you access to jobs that aren’t advertised in the open market. Even if you’re looking for a permanent position, if a short-term contract comes up in the industry you’d like to work in, it might be a good idea to take it. You’ll gain more experience and your agency can continue looking for a permanent role for you while you’re working.

Job agencies are rubbish
She’s been temping for 8 years…………… because agencies won’t send her for a full-time job, keeping her as a temp to earn them commission instead.
Agencies are staffed by ‘consultants’ who have no knowledge of business roles & who will be sacked as soon as they fail to reach their targets………… Get rid of these unnecessary ‘consultants’ & recruit staff yourself !.
We’ve started a new concept which can make the whole cv-writing/recruitment process much smoother! Let us know what you think…
@WHIFFY1973 These employment agencies use the same tools for communicating that we have. Is it necessary to have a middleman such as an employment agency to obtain access to a potential employer when we can express and describe our skills with the same communication tools. This idea of using a job agency as a middleman appears to be outdated!
@BURPism ………..Indeed it is gradually becoming aparrant what Employment agencies do to candidates & how they are treated………. many large companies no longer use agencies because they are able to find the most appropriate staff themselves, which helps to employ people who actually do want to work there, not until an alternative more suitable position becomes available somewhere else. Agencies will do anything for the commission they earn & business has generally become aware of this!.
I have never once found work via a Recruitment Agency. I find them on the whole frustrating and I often query if the job in question exists. I feel at lot is just a ploy to get your CV, which to be honest, is a pathetic way to treat people. I have not one decent word to say about any of them. I had one guy totally refuse to put my CV forward on the grounds that I lived what he felt, was not in ‘normal’ commuting distance. A total tit, to be honest. So thumbs down to Agencies.
@WHIFFY1973 – That’s what I do. I don’t need any Recruitment Agent fullstop!
The expansion of “recruitment” agencies and temporary employment is one of the worst legacies of the last decade in the UK. We now have half of the workforce working under conditions that would have been unacceptable to most of the previous generation. It’s also a one way street – all the benefits of the new system are directed at the employer. There is absolutely no benefit for the employee.
Its diffrent hear in Australia, case mangers dont last long, and they ask u the same questions, and u feel like playing a video recorde to replay it so u dont have to asked them.
